Rajendra Jagannath Mahajan, born on January 26, 1965, is an accomplished artist and educator with a deep passion for art, research, and social awareness. He holds a BFA and MFA in Painting from Nagpur University, along with a Diploma in Art Education from Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. Over his career, he has earned numerous accolades, including awards from Mahakoshal Kala Parishad and Maharashtra State Art Exhibition, and has showcased his work at prestigious galleries like Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, and exhibitions across India.
With over 28 years of experience as Principal and Lecturer at Bhagini Mandal’s Govt. Aided Lalit Kala Kendra, Chopda, he has mentored students while organizing impactful art initiatives. His dedication to social causes is evident through exhibitions on Gandhian philosophy, environmental conservation, and women empowerment, as well as large-scale wall paintings addressing societal issues. He has also pioneered unique fundraising methods and conducted over 100 outdoor art study tours.
Beyond visual arts, Rajendra Mahajan has made significant contributions to literature, publishing poetry and art-related articles in leading newspapers. A passionate researcher, he has deeply studied Ajanta cave paintings and explored over 250 caves across India. He has interviewed legendary artists and remains inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, and other great visionaries. Committed to lifelong learning, he continues to focus on art writing, research, and painting while being a lifetime member of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
